Playlists work across services. You and your friends can use different sources — tracks are matched by ISRC and added only if they're available in your streaming region.

Follow or unfollow anytime. If you unfollow, new playlists stop being created.

FAQs

How are playlists made?: They're generated automatically from listening data.
How often are playlists created?: Once per month, at the end of the month.
Do playlists work across streaming services?: Yes. Melt matches tracks across Apple Music, Spotify, and Last.fm using ISRCs, and only includes songs available in your region.
I use Youtube Music, Tidal, Bandcamp or Deezer, can I use Melt?: No. These services do not provide listening history or playlist creation APIs. You can use Last.fm to track listening history, but you won't receive playlists from friends.
† Why is Spotify blocked?: Spotify has progressively restricted their developer APIs, first in May 2025 and again in February 2026, limiting access to big business only. If you want to encourage Spotify to change course, please post on their community forums and request Melt.fm.
How do I get the most out of melt?: Listen to lots of music, favourite or like tracks you enjoy, and connect with friends.
Do I need to curate anything?: No. But favoriting tracks you enjoy helps surface your best music.
What happens if I unfollow someone?: Their playlist won't be created the next month.
Is this a social network?: No.
